Morning itinerary: Transfer to the market at old Bangkok market area, board tuk tuks for a ride to the Grand Palace. Visit Wat Pra Kaew with many truly beautiful building and structures. The temple’s main chapel houses the Emerald Buddha, the most sacred image for Buddhists in Thailand. Continue to the Grand Palace which was the residence and administrative base of the kings of Chakri Dynasty. Admire the majestic buildings, some of which are still used for state and royal functions. Note: Proper attire is required and shoes must be removed to enter the chapel.
Lunch at a riverside restaurant.
Afternoon itinerary: After lunch, take a boat cruise along the Chao Praya River and through the klongs or canals of Thonburi on the west side of the river from Bangkok. Enjoy the scenic life along the waterways and learn why Bangkok was once called “Venice of the East”. Visit Wat Arun, also called the Temple of Dawn, one of the most important landmarks of Bangkok. Continue to visit Wat Po, Thailand’s first real university, visit the temple of the Reclining Buddha and its extensive compound with a school of traditional medicine including the teaching. The cruise ends at Asiatique River Front on the last afternoon. Time at leisure for a stroll or shopping at Asiatique.
